My Journey

My mother taught me to knit and crochet at a very young age, so young that I don’t remember a time when I haven’t known how to knit or crochet. My family participated in Civil War reenactments as I was growing up, and so I spent many-an-hour making shawls, blankets, hats and more by hand. More recently I have made and given away a plethora of handmade items to my family and close friends.

In 2010 I decided to try to make and sell the same items I’ve been making and giving away to loved ones for many years. I also decided to challenge myself by creating and selling some homespun/hand spun yarn. I had had some trouble finding nice thick and thin yarn in a nice baby blue, and thought I’d try my hand at creating it. When I saw the perfect shade of merino wool combed top in the local yarn store I knew I could make my own. I truly enjoy the soft feel and the lovely sheen of the the hand spun yarns and I love making yarn!

I have been developing and designing patterns since 2013. I find pattern design to be one of the most fulfilling crafts I have undertaken. The challenge of putting together different stitches to create a specific finished object is great fun. The possibilities are endless!
